Also my sensor panel now shows 5975MHz instead of 6000MHz. Also, the computer finally started right away! What I noticed after loading the profile is that other voltages were set comparing to the old BIOS Version. By the way, the RAM has only one EXPO (no EXPO 1 and EXPO 2). After update completion, reset to default, etc. I installed this freshly baked BIOS (from ASROCK) directly on my Board. After many reboots, a few CMOS resets and testing I saw that AMD released an AGESA ComboAM5 1.0.0.5c update. Especially with EXPO 6000 the RAM ran extremely unstable. After that several bluescreens and crashes. ![]() The day before yesterday I upgraded to the G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO EXPO RGB DDR5-6000 C元0-38-38-96 RAM 32GB (2x 16GB) (before Fury Beast 5200 CL40 32GB). I have/had the same problem with RAM as many describe here. Will give it a few more days and hopefully that was the ticket. But I did just pass MEMTEST86 again after enabling UCLK=MEMCLK, and so far so good. Windows got so corrupted it won't even go into safe mode.Īt this point I'm not even sure it's an EXPO problem or just ASUS BIOS problem.the current status of the BIOS for my particular mobo certainly does not give me confidence. I enabled that initially trying to speed up the POST time, but that was also when I had the severe OS corruption to the point I must reformat. And once I enter the BIOS setting UI, it will continue to freeze for a good 10 seconds or so before becoming normal again.īut anyway, I did set the UCLK=MEMCLK, and I disabled the Memory Context Restore. The mobo came with a BIOS that was older than the oldest one listed on the website initially, and that one was a mess.īut after I updated to this new BIOS I actually started noticing the BIOS would freeze on the initial splash for a few seconds every single boot, where F2/Del etc doesn't do anything. Glad to hear that! Yes I'm on the latest BIOS for my motherboard released two weeks ago. I think setting UCLK=MEMCLK is what might have finally done it, but we'll see. In Ryzen Master, the setting is called UCLK Mode and it's set to On if UCLK=MEMCLK." Basically, the alternative is to run UCLK at half the speed of MEMCLK (this is what the default setting of Auto does) and that is suboptimal. In the Asus BIOS, the setting is hidden under Advanced -> AMD Overclocking -> Accept -> DDR and Infinity Fabric Frequency/Timings -> Infinity Fabric Frequency and Dividers -> UCLK DIV1 Mode -> UCLK=MEMCLK. "I finally found the corresponding BIOS (for Crosshair X670E Extreme) and Ryzen Master settings. One other tweak I made to the BIOS was to do the following change ( courtesy of planetbeing on the Asus forums): I *just* updated the BIOS and I think it's stable. I reached out to Asus and G.Skill, Asus confirmed it was not supported but should work G.Skill said to update BIOS. Oddly, the X670E is on the TZ5NR QVL, but not vice versa. I was running mostly fine at 4800, but it was highly unstable on EXPO I and EXPO II. Lawmakers have extended the moratorium twice, most recently in 2015. For every commercial launch, including crew missions, the FAA already has oversight over issues that affect the safety of the general public. The ban on human spaceflight regulations applies only to occupant safety. how do you deal with the moratorium? Can you get that by October 1 and get something passed? Is that something everyone can agree to, or is that going to get bogged down? You just don’t know right now, and that’s just a bad place to be," said Allen Cutler, president of the Coalition for Deep Space Exploration, in a panel discussion at the John Glenn Memorial Symposium earlier this month. Given the hotly partisan tenor of Capitol Hill and a range of other priorities, it's not clear if the bill-whatever it says-can be passed before October 1. Frank Lucas (R-Okla.), chair of the House Science Committee, said one of his priorities in developing the space bill is ensuring a "thoughtful regulatory environment that supports innovation." The House Science Committee is considering a commercial space bill that might extend the learning period, but the content of the bill hasn't been released yet. That has many in the commercial space industry concerned. Without action from Congress, by the end of September, the moratorium on human spaceflight regulations will expire. It's supposed to give companies and the Federal Aviation Administration-the agency tasked with overseeing commercial human spaceflight, launch, and re-entry operations-time to learn how to safely fly in space and develop smart regulations, those that make spaceflight safer but don't restrict innovation. The moratorium is also known as a "learning period," a term that describes the purpose of the provision. The idea was to allow time for new space companies to establish themselves before falling under the burden of regulations, an eventuality that spaceflight startups argued could impede the industry's development. In 2004, Congress passed a law that established a moratorium on federal safety regulations for commercial astronauts and space tourists riding to space on new privately owned rockets and spacecraft. I ended up creating a PopClip extension that takes the highlighted text, opens Chrome and creates a new tab, and then goes to a web page I create that just has a text area on it. I couldn't have PopClip open the Grammarly app, create a new document, and then paste the text I had highlighted into the app for checking, but I did find another solution. The app doesn't take you to a blank document when you first open it, and there is no keyboard shortcut to create a new document. The problem I ran into is that Grammarly's desktop app is simple. At the bottom of the post, measure 1″ from the middle of the post toward the inside of the porch and make a mark. But first, you’ll need something to fasten the boards to. Quantities and lengths will depend on your specific project needs.įor the horizontal deck railing, you’ll be using 6″ treated decking boards. The last thing you want is to build your railing, and have an inspector not pass it because he’s able to fit a 4″ object through your railing. To be on the safe side, I recommend using 3.5″ for your spacing. The IRC requires that the space between your balusters or boards must be less than 4″. Not only do you have to make sure your railing is the right height, but you also must follow the code for baluster spacing or in this case spacing between each horizontal board. But you should also check your local building codes because counties and cities may have different requirements. This should be measured from the deck or porch surface to the top of the railing. The IRC (International Residential Code) requires that deck railing be at least 36″ in height. How tall does deck railing need to be?īefore you start building your deck or porch railing, it’s extremely important to make sure you are following your local building codes for railing height and spacing. In this tutorial, I’ll show you step by step how you can build this type of railing for your deck or porch. Not only does this style have a more modern look, but it’s also very easy to build yourself. For our house, we decided to go with a wide horizontal style. ![]() The pressure of the displaced material can cause the top surface to protrude if the tip of the screw is too close, or even push out a plug of surface material. There are many different styles of deck and porch railings. ![]() Also, don't screw much more than about half way into the composite plank. Or use one that taps a thread, like this style:īoth styles are often advertised as not requiring a pilot hole, but I wouldn't trust that. a thread that is coarse and thin, more like a knife that causes minimal displacement of the material, like this style:.So it isn't good to use normal wood screws, which have a thick, wedge-shaped thread. The composite material doesn't compress like wood pressure just makes it fall apart. You need exterior grade screws, either stainless steel or specially coated. So to your question of what kind of screw to use. Once screwed in, a small amount of prying force will pull the planks off, either stripping the screw hole or leaving hunks of material behind around the screws. You don't need massive holding strength on each screw, which is good because these composite boards have little structural strength. The screws in this application are mainly to keep the planks from sliding. The planks are heavy and you aren't really trying to secure them against "falling up" or being pulled off. So verify the designed usage if you use these. There are special screws for composite decking, but they often contain multiple threads designed to have the right thread in the right material when you fasten down through the composite board. These have a fastening system that involves hidden grooves, which won't be hidden if you use it for a top rail. Trex (and some other brands) have planks designed specifically for use as decking. First, make sure you get the right plank type. ![]() ![]() ![]() In addition to the gold and silver, Garcia also stole a number of artifacts, called “Machines of Viracocha,” made of an unknown red metal. With the help of thousands of Guaraní, Garcia attacked and looted a town near Potosi, taking much gold and silver from the Inca king, Huayna Capac. With the help of the Guaraní, he headed inland using the intricate system of Amazon trails known as Peabiru. In 1524 the Portuguese navigator Aleixo Garcia left Santa Catarina in search of Incan gold and silver. Here is an English translation of the synopsis of the book: There is a Portuguese work of historical fiction (now out of print) titled O Tesouro do Sombrio ( The Treasure of the Sombrio) that fills in some of the gaps, tying in Thomas Cavendish and a Jesuit friar. The Easiest Way to Get a Parallax Scrolling Background Image with Desired Message, Title, and Logo on Your WordPress Website. ![]() So I would say parallax is still in the "filtering down to smaller sites" phase, and still "gee whiz" to non-designers.Parallax Scroll is a Parallax Section Builder plugin for WordPress. The "little guy" sites that are just being updated now are getting last year's design fashions, and to the owners it's still new and cool, even though the design community has moved on to the next emerging trend. Eventually they become commonplace as they filter down to even the local diner's web site. Other designers rush to copy these innovations on medium-sized sites. I remember an article I read once, the gist of which was that innovators come up with new techniques in web design (think: box shadows, rounded corners, fixed-position nav bars, etc) and new "hot" styles (starburst background, reflected text logos, etc.) that appear on the big, popular sites first. But that's not the case for the general public. So last year's "cool" will seem like this year's "dated". Web designers (good ones, at least) are always ahead of the curve. I'm not sure how much hope there is for either. Somewhere in between don't cram everything above the non-existent fold, and "why didn't you just give me a play button so I don't have to scroll frame-by-frame through the animation you want show me which is getting in the way of the content I want to see." I'd like to think that, but I'd also like to think that single-page bootstrap template won't become synonymous with "website". I'd like to think the pendulum is swinging back to balance again. ![]() Somehow customers spending 10 seconds tediously scrolling in-between meaningless snippets just so a layered animation could play out seemed perfectly reasonable as long as it was "cool." Of course, on the other end of that were developers and designers eager to show off their new skillset, and the "me too" sites were born. Then parallax hit and suddenly clients want comically long pages with only uninformative quips every 1,000 pixels or so. that's what I'd say before parallax, anyway. Virtually every user has touch controls or a physical wheel that's veritably hard-wired to their brain as much as the mouse button. People would cram everything possible "above the fold" and forget that web pages aren't newspapers sitting in a stand. I used to be on the complete opposite side of the argument with scrolling. This is bad for whatever message you're trying to push. If you watch people -normal people- on a parallax page, they tend to scroll erratically in response to the effect. The effect is distracting and actually a little disorienting, especially to casual users. They will be beaten to death more slowly. The more advanced effects are more difficult to "templatize" and as such require more expertise to develop. It does date the design, especially with the "me too" implementation which most sites used parallax for the sake of "wow." But the scrolling effects, such as animations which play out via scrolling, aren't quite dead yet. Parallax is just a single scrolling effect. ![]() ![]() ![]() After a long period of confusion, during which the crowd managed to spot BryanStars in the balcony, Northlane was finally on as the opener. The venue was packed for the night’s sold out show. I went to Best Buy Theater for The American Dream Tour, enduring an hour in the literally freezing cold before managing to get inside. On 2/28, I was, once again, without camera, but have to say I’m pretty satisfied with what my phone did manage to capture. This was definitely one of my favorite shows of the year so far, made better by being able to see several of my favorite bands on the same lineup, and being so incredibly close to the stage. When performing “Miles Away,” Jag from A Skylit Drive came onstage to do vocals in place of Kellin Quinn, and he and Matty performed it beautifully in the glow of an intense blue and purple lightshow. They included a couple of much older songs, including one from their album Sleepwalking, circa 2009. They are known for performing well live, and lead singer Matty Mullins did not disappoint that evening. The headliner Memphis May Fire understandably had the most impressive lights for their set, able to finally utilize the entire stage. They closed with “Life Cycles,” a crowd chanting anthem that ended with Telle getting into the crowd, giving high fives to fans as he returned to the stage. Lead singer Telle showed off his vocal prowess, shifting easily between powerful screams and cleans. They really got the crowd going, starting several circle pits, with the epitome of the energy happening during their song “2012,” most definitely a crowd pleaser. The Word Alive informed the crowd that they were working on a new album, and debuted a song called “Play the Victim,” which is soon to be officially released. He too jumped in the crowd for their final song, and I was lucky enough to snap a few pictures. Nevertheless they put on a stellar performance, and lead vocalist Jag has only improved since they first started back in 2008. My personal favorite, Identity On Fire, saw no love on their setlist, and Wires…And The Concept of Breathing received just one song. Almost all of their setlist was from their new album Rise, which, don’t get me wrong, is an excellent album, but it was disappointing for fans of their previous releases, like myself. Next was A Skylit Drive, who were able to use a little bit more of the space, bringing out risers to put on the front half of the stage. Lead singer Trenton Woodley’s vocals were splendid as usual, soaring and dipping, hitting all of the intricate highs and lows present in their songs. ![]() Hearing the softer songs “Developments” and “No Parallels” live for the first time was in itself a beautiful experience. However the lighting for their entire stage was incredibly dark, making it difficult to get any distinguishable photos. ![]() They played several tracks from their new album Unimagine, along with several classics from their previous release Ground Dweller. Roughly grouped as a post hardcore band, they are definitely one of the big up and coming bands of 2014 (in my own humble opinion). Next was Hands Like Houses, a six piece band from Canberra, Australia. The final song was played with lead singer Shomo stage diving into the crowd and then being brought back to the stage via crowd surfing. Though they only had about a third of the stage to work with, they utilized it well, jumping around and standing on the crowed for some of the songs. The opener was Beartooth, the new band of Caleb Shomo (ex Attack Attack!) and members of My Ticket Home. After successfully avoiding the long line of ticket holders by standing in the will call line, I was in the second row for the entirety of the show. Admittedly the pictures are a bit dark (but we’ll just blame Irving’s poor lighting), but hey – at least they’re close. So close to the barricade, yet so far away. On 3/5/14, sacrificing the convenience of not having to hold a massive winter jacket for the duration of a heavy, sweaty, metalcore concert, I was able to get in the second row at Irving Plaza. ![]() |
